Once this safety feature has been integrated and perfected, expect it to be included at no extra charge. Ford has stated they are working on adding this key safety feature to the Hybrid but integrating it into the advanced drivetrain turned out to be a bit tougher then originally thought. The FEH lacks the very important AdvanceTrac w/ RSC however.Ĭonclusion: With the FEH’s included luxury amenities not available on the XLT inside of an option package, its livelier performance and much higher FE in both the real world and per the EPA, the FEH is a bargain as long as the Federal Tax credit can be fully applied.Ĭounterpoint: The lack of AdvanceTrac with RSC on the Escape Hybrid is somewhat troubling. Besides the FEH’s superior warranty, its feature additions over and above the XLT include the more powerful, cleaner and vastly more fuel efficient CVT based Hybrid drivetrain attached to the Atkinsonized 2.3L ICE, Dual Zone Climate control, Disc brakes all-around and lowered emissions (SMOG and GHG based). When that will be would be a guess but I suspect we will see lowered credits on the FEH beginning this fall.Ī few odds and ends: As shown, the FEH and XLT w/ Auto match up component for component quite well. That is if gasoline prices remain in the high $2.00 to low $3.00/gallon range over the next few months? The FEH’s Federal Tax credit will be halved after the quarter in which total sales of the FEH and MMH have reached 60,000 units. Purchasing an 08 FEH for close to invoice should not be much more difficult then purchasing an XLT w/ Auto near invoice today. Remember to see your tax advisor as AMT can remove some or all of this Tax Credit depending on your financial status. The price delta between the Hybrid and XLT falls to just $860 when the current Federal tax credit of $3,000 is applied. Pricing: The current 2008 FEH costs $3,860 more then a comparably equipped Escape XLT w/ Auto. 23 combined, range of the FEH will not be a problem The FEH’s PZEV emissions are far lower then that of the XLT’s LEV-2 as well. The FEH has a 1.5 gallon smaller fuel tank then its non-hybrid counterpart but with its far superior FE of 32 combined vs. Considering performance, the FEH’s is ~ 1 second quicker to 60 then that of an I4 equipped Escape. of cargo space behind the second row seats vs. Size and Performance: In terms of size, the FEH loses just. You can preview the first page of Happy Birthday by clicking on the preview icon next to the the arrangement that you that you would like to view. This track was performed by Kygo, John Legend. In 1976 Joplin was awarded a posthumous Pulitzer Prize. Our arrangements for Happy Birthday can be seen below. In that same year, Scott Joplin’s grave finally received a marker. Ragtime–and Scott Joplin–were rediscovered in the early 1970s and celebrated in the movie The Sting, which featured several of Joplin’s compositions including “The Entertainer.” Joplin’s opera Treemonisha was finally produced in 1972, and in 1974 The Sting received an Academy Award. Scott Joplin was buried in an unmarked pauper’s grave, but his story does not end there. Though he died young, Scott Joplin wrote 44 original ragtime tunes, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. He continued to write, to grow, and to experiment for the next 18 years. Joplin continued to struggle financially. Now he had a steady income for life as an artist, but sustained success was elusive. (You’ll find a video of it below, played by Scott Joplin, himself.) When “Maple Leaf Rag” was published as sheet music in 1899, people began to pay attention to the name and talent of Scott Joplin. Teaching paid the rent and kept him fed, but on the side Joplin composed. Joplin returned to teaching African-American students. Visitors to Chicago loved the new sounds, and by 1897 ragtime was a national craze–new sounds for a new century. He visit Chicago in 1893 and played for tourists visiting the World’s Fair. He could get work in churches and in saloons and brothels, but there weren’t many jobs available to him in between. Sadly, though, at that time there were not many opportunities for black pianists. Joplin liked to play “jig-piano,” from which he developed his unique ragtime style. He also worked as a laborer for the railroad, like his father had, but around the time he was 20 he gave it up to become a traveling musician. He was beginning to see himself as a professional musician–an artist as well as an entertainer. When he was 16, Scott Joplin formed a vocal quartet with three other local boys and also taught guitar and mandolin. Weiss helped the family acquire a piano of their own and introduced his young student to both folk and classical music, including opera. Recognizing the boy’s talent Julius Weiss, a German-born music teacher, offered to teach Scott free of charge. He often accompanied his mother to practice piano after school while she cleaned. But she was dedicated to finding a way to continue his lessons, and young Scott was a serious student with ambition. Giles Joplin abandoned his family when Scott was a young teenager, leaving his mother to support six children by cleaning houses. As Scott was growing up in Texarkana, his mother recognized his special talent and saw to it that he received music lessons, though his father was adamant that the boy’s time would be better spent working to help the family make ends meet. Scott’s father used to play the violin for plantation parties back in North Carolina, and his mother sang and played banjo. His father worked on the railroad, but the whole family was musical. Scott Joplin, “King of Ragtime,” was born on Novem(or 1868) in northeast Texas. However, it’s just not a good gaming keyboard. It’s ok for typing, if you don’t mind that constant annoyance of the wobble and the squeaks and experiencing wrist fatigue within an hour of using it. I’m not saying throw a wad of cash on the table for a premium gaming keyboard, especially if you’re not a collector like me, but the Yindiao K500 Luminous is proof that a bargain-basement keyboard is not the best route, especially if you take your gaming seriously. Save your money for a better option is my recommendation here. It certainly pales in comparison to the original, not just in build but also in speed and comfort. And I honestly wouldn’t count on its build to last all that long when you’re button-mashing. While Yindiao makes no mention of its polling rate, I’m pretty sure it’s not ideal for fast-paced, especially considering that you do have to bottom out every key for presses to register. It’s also not really the fastest keyboard either. And don’t even get me started on the spacebar, which makes a squeaking noise every time you press it – and I mean every single time! Like a little mouse getting tortured. Speaking of typing, the keys are wobbly, so wobbly that every single key makes a sound at the slightest touch. I immediately experienced wrist and hand fatigue within 30 minutes of using it, which may be ok for a lot of people but is definitely not if you’re in the know. Combine that with the fact that it has a deep actuation (you do have to bottom out the keys for responses), and the experience is really not all that comfortable. But, seeing as it is a wired keyboard, that’s kind of the bare minimum you can expect really – although it does experience a bit of lag when you first plug it in or when you’re waking it.īecause it is a membrane keyboard, you’re getting squishy keys. What did you expect? Yindiao K500 Luminous: PerformanceĪdmittedly, the Yindiao K500 delivers good performance, and by that, I mean you can type with it all day long and not experience any issues or delays. And, like the original Razer, it has three light indicators at the top right corner to indicate power, Caps Lock, and backlighting (which is unnecessary because you don’t really need an indicator to let you know whether that backlight is on or off).īut that’s pretty much it. It is a USB wired keyboard so it’s essentially a plug-and-play. (Image credit: Future / Michelle Rae Uy) Yindiao K500 Luminous: Featuresīecause the Yindiao K500 is a bargain-basement product, there aren’t a lot of features to speak of. We may not have the opportunity to control the circumstances of our lives. We have many narratives, many stories that we tell ourselves. And let that shape the larger picture of the world that you’re working with.” Krista offers a generative narrative practice “to set out to become alert and somewhat reverent of what is good and lifegiving in the ordinary encounters of your days: what you read, what you focus on, what you look for and notice in people close to you, and also what you notice in strangers. Krista Tippett, creator and host of the podcast “On Being,” first introduced me to the idea of a “generative narrative,” the concept of desiring to amplify what is good and beautiful without denying what is not. Never apologize for caring enough that it leaves you aching, yearning for a better world than this.” Sometimes brokenness can mean broken open, a painful but life-giving space that can eventually lead back to wholeness. Shine and sparkle my friends, you’ve got this! In a month of full schedules and long to-do lists, we can choose meaningful encounters with others to offer a touch or word of care. Each day I will offer an idea with the Calendar of Care of who or how we could reach out to another. We are standing on a threshold and we can choose to enter with others with gentle care throughout the month. We have an opportunity to reach out with a heart of care…. We have an opportunity to learn someone’s name that we encounter often and begin calling them by name…. We have an opportunity to invite another to a conversation of care…. We have an opportunity to look in someone’s eyes and ask a caring question…. We have an opportunity to hug a little longer…. We have an opportunity to ask a caring question…and wait and listen for the answer. I picture us crossing through this portal with a sense of vulnerability as we care for others through the month of December – the uneasiness of trying something new, the exposure of not knowing how things will turn out, the risk, the emotional exposure of putting ourselves “out there”. The art in the image above reflects a beautiful opening. Peters said that nearly 600 people came out to the church's new location for Easter Sunday service on its opening day.How might we open our hearts during this holiday season to one another with intentional and meaningful care and compassion? “To see this come together today and to have the response that we had is just confirmation that God has been moving all along and preparing us for this day,” Peters said. “I'm going to be growing up in this church for the rest of my life and knowing all these people here will be great.”Īccording to Peters, the journey leading up to church's Easter Sunday's opening was tough, but it was worth being able to have their grand opening on such an important Christian holiday. “It's not the building that makes us a church, it's the people here,” said Outlaw. Thirteen-year-old Timothy Outlaw believed that Easter Sunday marked the beginning of something special for the Radiant Life Church and its congregation. “Really just like coming home, like this we know, this is where we're supposed to be and these people are our family and it feels like my family is growing today,” said Brittany Hoover, a leader from the Lifekids program at the Radiant Life Church. Members of the church said that on top of having a building of their own, Easter Sunday was an emotional new beginning for them and the other members of the church's community. Leading up to Easter Sunday, members of the church's community put the finishing touches on the church building, which used to be the Westwood Twin Theatre. The church had been a mobile church for the past four years, with their weekly worship services being held at the Abilene Convention Center. I don't cry a lot, but I have to say, it was first worship experience I was overwhelmed (by),” said Peters. Lead Pastor Kevin Peters opened the doors to the new location of the Radiant Life Church on Easter Sunday. ABILENE, Texas - Easter Sunday is a time for people to proclaim the resurrection of Jesus, but one Abilene church had something else to celebrate on Easter Sunday this year: the grand opening of their church's new location. WinZip, as evident from the name, is used to process ZIP files amongst other file archive formats. It is a Windows-based software and is not available for Mac. It is a premium software that comes with a free trial. It can also be used to unpack the contents of other file extensions like 7z, ZIPX, and TAR. It is popularly used to compress and decompress RAR and ZIP files. WinRAR is one of the most popular file compression tools developed by the developer behind the RAR file extension. Now that we know about different file archive formats, it’s about time we compare different file compression tools to help you choose the best tool out of the options we have here. However, certain operating system support caveats do exist. Moreover, it is an open-source file archive format. In our tests, we found that 7z is the best compression format owing to its high compression ratio, strong AES-256 encryption, and self-extracting capabilities. A lot depends upon the file type you want to compress and the operating system you are using. Compared to other formats, TAR can be considered as a bundle of uncompressed archive files.Ĭompression Percentage (as per our tests)Īs evident from the table, different file archive formats have different advantages as well as disadvantages. Alternatively, there are many online tools also available to extract the contents of a TAR file. There are multiple third-party tools available to open Tar files. It is a popular file archive format in Linux and Unix systems. TAR is the short form of Tape Archive which is also referred to as Tarball sometimes. TAR – Most Popular File Archive Format In Unix 7z format was the first file archive format that used LZMA. LZMA or Lempel–Ziv–Markov chain algorithm is an algorithm that is used for lossless data compression. 7z file format can be uncompressed using 7-zip or other third-party software. On the downside, it also requires additional software to uncompress the file. 7z format supports compressing files up to 16000000000 GB. 7z – A File Archive Format Offering High Compression ratioħz is an open-source file archive format that offers high compression ratio and uses LZMA as its default compression method. Most operating systems, including macOS and Windows, have in-built zip file opener software. One of the advantages of using ZIP format is that ZIP files can be opened without any external software. ZIP files, like other archive file formats, store files and folders in a compressed format. ZIP is another popular archive format used widely on the internet. If you don’t have a RAR extractor software (more on it below), you cannot view the content contained in it. RAR files can only be opened with special software that extracts the content of the file for you to use them. You can consider a RAR file as a briefcase containing other files and folders. A file with RAR extension is a compressed file containing more than one file or folders. RAR (Roshal Archive), named after its developer Eugene Roshal, is one of the most popular file compression formats. Since 2019, I am a member of the National Advisory Council of the Hogg Foundation.
